This is a very sensitive area for some people. And there are parts of this process that some people will never get accustomed to. Please note that any animals will be professionally sourced from organic farms with the intention of being raised for meat. With that said we will be dispatching animals at next year's Preppers meet. This will include pigs and rabbits at the least right now. Participants will have the opportunity to dispatch their own animal. We will be teaching the correct and ethical manner/procedures. This is an important and vital skill to have and everyone will be guided by professionals step by step. We will also have a special presentation on the ethics of animal dispatching/hunting with Jeremy St. Onge to take place Thursday evening. Our intention is one based in education while having the deepest roots of integrity and respect for processes involved.

Permaculture Workshop

S. Chernoff • Friday • July 11, 2025 • 09:00 • Stage

Event Details: TBA

Shelley currently lives on a small hobby farm in an area where the power goes out often.  She has been canning for her family for over a decade, motivated by food sensitivities of her children and concerns about "extra" ingredients in store-bought products.  Her 30+ years as an organic gardener started as an adversity to spraying chemicals on food plants, and led her into taking plant science at a top rate post secondary school.  Continuing to learn and expand her abilities, she spent 5 years training with the Army Reseves, took a Wilderness Survival Course, portaged Algonquin park, and was a Scouting leader for many years.  By continuing to add home skills to her day-to-day living, foraging was an easy next step to her self-reliance goal.  She lives this lifestyle everyday, and what started out as teaching these skills to friends and neighbours has become an enjoyable and satisfying hobby of creating courses and sharing her knowledge and experience.  Visit www.betterlifeskills.com for more class info.

Mushrooms for Survival

River Ziemniak • Saturday • July 12, 2025 • 11:00

Mushrooms for Survival with River Ziemniak

About me:

I'm a student of mycological ecology in my fifth year of study and an avid forager. I'm an expert identifier of fungi as recognized by my peers in the online mycology community, and a volunteer identifier for an international emergency identification service. I work closely with multiple online identification, foraging , and discussion groups, including moderator and admin duties. I'm active in a local London prepper community (Forage City).

About the talk:

I'll be discussing various mushrooms that can be found in Ontario. I will be going over how to tell them from similar mushrooms, where and when to find them, and how to use them. There will be dried specimens of several of the mushrooms i will be covering that will be passed around for inspection, and if time allows, a brief question period.

A brief overview of topics:

- A (very) brief primer on mushroom ID
- Fomes: Otzi the iceman and the tinder fungus
- Trametes versicolor: Turkey tail and its many benefits
- Calvitia: Pufballs can stop bleeding!
- Vitamin D: How to prepare your foraged mushrooms to get the most out of them

Ham Radio Live Demonstration

Eugene Rywak • Saturday • July 12, 2025 • 12:00

Eugene - radio comms enthusiast since adolescence willing to share practical approaches on how to benefit from amateur radio operation. Willing to represent the Cambridge Amateur Radio Club in portable operation, and encourage Annual Preppers Meet attendees to Get On The Air (GOTA) with the available equipment and antennas onsite. These are intended for Shortwave frequency bands, Very High Frequency 146.5 MHz, Ultra High Frequency 446.1 MHz as Simplex (point to point) or using available repeaters in the area, and to make contacts with other licensed amateur radio operators - both nearby and distant.

As a member of the Radio Amateur of Canada (organization representing all licensed operators with the federal Government of Canada), I would like to shine more light on this topic, as RAC is holding an important role in our freedom of using RF energy for communications and technological advancements. We are benefiting from 10% of the total radio spectrum frequencies allocation guaranteed for amateur radio use, and directly competing with multi-billion-dollar telecom industries, military, aviation, industrial use, etc.

The primary technological cycle starts with amateurs experimenting with innovative techniques, which are later commercialized, and you are invited to become involved with hands-on experience, allowing you to always be prepared and know how to communicate wirelessly as needed and for fun.

The possibility of speaking with astronauts orbiting earth on International Space Station should encourage you to be curious and come by to see us and learn more about it.

Mutual Assistance Groups

C. Bodhi • Saturday • July 12, 2025 • 14:00 • TBA

I've seen a lot of so-called 'groups' over the years and the many complications that come with them. The idea of bugging out and having a team or group have no universal rules or guidelines with respect to their creation/expectations/maintenance/etc. There's also endless concerns with group members: people not putting in their weight, drama amongst members, not taking the preparedness seriously and so forth.

Lately, 'groups' relating to preparedness amount to sharing meaningless links on Telegram or Signal, nonsensical conspiracy theories and wasting your time handing out bumper stickers or flyers. What is a group? Really? A group of friends that hunt together and eventually deciding to take things to the next level if something happens? A group of 'Preppers' that understand this can't be done alone? A group of neighbors that banded together because of Covid - realizing it was more beneficial to be together? Is that the extent of it?

In this presentation I'll be exploring angles of groups from a different lens rather than conventional or traditional perspectives. This will be an open platform discussion - questions, answers and stories - engaging with the audience. In addition to existing challenges I'll also like to discuss alternative ways of thinking and approaching mutual assistance groups but more importantly, solutions.

Prepping on Steroids

Denob • Saturday • July 12, 2025 • 17:00

What happens when you mix prepping with AI?

In a world rapidly competing for various controls of what we know as "Artificial Intelligence" it was only inevitable that it eventually connected with preparedness. These fascinating technologies are shaping and continuously reshaping how we approach things, communicate and gather information including sensitive types such as that of our own health. Artificial intelligence is also helping us with how to prepare better, more effectively and more importantly teaching us in areas we may have never previously considered.  Working with AI could provide greater advantages which could translate into money and time saved, more effective/appropriate measures let alone untapped areas we have yet to even conceive of. This translates  into having a strategic edge or a superior (gold-plated) wild card of sorts.

Open Platform Discussion

Join us for this open mic and open platform discussion on this topic. Some of you have already expressed interest and used AI in preparing already. And as most of you are aware it’s progressively becoming more useful in providing suggestions and frameworks. This is a chance to express and learn from each other's experiences. Collectively, it will be easier to figure out what worked, what didn’t, who is on track and how we can all benefit from these great, emerging technologies.

Hosted by Denob

Denob started overseeing the Canadian Preppers Network back in 2008, and acquired ownership some time later. A Licensed ham radio operator and avid food storage enthusiast, he moved away from the city life and now resides on a semi rural property in Quebec where he grows food, stores supplies, and gathers skills to prepare himself and his kids for the worst, while hoping for the best.

Guest Speaker: Omar

Omar, an Ottawa Valley based survivalist, naturalist, IT professional and Business Analyst , with an Algonquin College Diploma in Outdoor Adventure Naturalist and Wilderness First Responder certification, he hones rugged survival skills. A former business professor, Omar uses tech and AI to boost preparedness planning and is eager to share this expertise with the prepper community, empowering resilience from wilderness to strategy sessions.

Knife Sharpenings

KEVIN KALYNCHUK • Sunday • July 13, 2025 • 10:00

Having been interested in Preparedness has taught me to always work on learning skills. I've spent the past few years learn skills from gardening to food preservation to firearms marksmanship to HAM radio communications. Now, knife sharpening.

Understanding that the most dangerous knife blade is one that's not sharp is what brought me to my latest endeavor. Not satisfied with being self taught I have taken classes to learn the skills required to bring a blade from dull to razor sharp and now I want to share those skills at the Preppers Meet. Join me for a presentation on the techniques of knife sharpening. Learn what equipment to own and avoid. Bring a knife and try your hand at sharpening.
